The Hercules Coins of Gallienus' "Zoo"

Hercules was the son of Jupiter and a mortal woman, Alcmene. Hercules' coins in the Zoo series depict animals from two of his Twelve Labors, the male lion (the Nemean Lion, from the first Labor) and the boar (the Boar of Erymanthus, from the fourth Labor). Only one of the lion type was seen in the Cunetio Hoard, compared with 3 of the boars. These two coins represent the true rarities in the series.
